FEAR NOTHING

But be wise about it

"A person goes to knowledge as one goes to war, wide awake, with fear, with respect, and with absolute assurance. Going to knowledge or going to war in any other manner is a mistake, and whoever makes it will live to regret their steps."  Carlos Castanda

I put this quote up in terms of awareness, not to make someone afraid of learning.  Too often, people go after wisdom, fortune, fame, titles, etc. without realizing the pitfalls and responsibilities attached to these "entities".  Too often, some of the very best lose their inner peace, end up destroyed from never understanding the inner realities, of what goes along with the "dreams" they are seeking and have attained.

Also, I believe Castanda was writing about "fear" that leads to, and contains, awareness of power(s).  One should march boldly ahead into the jungle, but one needs preparation and awareness to not just walk into a lion's den.  In other words, fear the lion, and don't let it keep you from the jungle, but don't be so fooled and naive to believe a lion (drugs, greed, regret, lack of strategy, power) can't eat you.  History is full of the unaware whose gifts, power, position and wealth destroyed them WHEN THIS WAS AVOIDABLE by understanding external and INTERNAL strategy of how to remain centered, focused and keep peace of mind.

When instructing students/clients I often ask them, If you live in fear and suppression, where is your peace?  If you will not stand up for your beliefs and do something good in this world, how long can this peace last?  If you will not assist others in some way, what kind of peace do you expect to attain, no matter what you believe you hold in your possession?  If you believe externals alone will fix you, what will you do when you have more than you need?  Or as Lao Tzu says, "Too much success is not an advantage."   Where can you lead others (or yourself), if you yourself get lost?

I taught in Beverly Hills, California for years, and saw the same internal issues with the "successful" as with people who had little money and "success."  Certain fears were always present to varying degrees, "How can I get money?" or "How can I keep money and grow my money?"  If those thoughts are EMOTIONAL and fear based, more than belief based, that's an inner issue leading to "It's never enough" no matter what you attain or need to attain.  This "carrot on a stick" attitude, often times leads one to ruination.   In other words, YOU ARE NOT FREE.  YOU ARE A SLAVE TO YOUR FEAR and your fear NOT YOU begins creating your choices from lack of AWARENESS.   SEE MY FREE BOOK  "FREEDOM'S BATTLEFIELD"

This is whyI mainly teach people, through Martial Arts & my writings, to protect themselves from themselves through self wisdom, strategy and internal awareness, so they may become THEIR OWN TEACHERS and learn from the essence of themselves, so that they may attain their "dreams" and NOT become victims of their own lives, success and wealth as they change and evolve.

Remember, one cannot stay the way they are, no matter how much resistance one has to change.  I see that my students/clients take away from my writing and training, a few degrees of higher awareness about internal self power and inner development, and continue to grow both intellectually and emotionally as a person of higher wisdom.

Ultimately, I hope I will have added to your cultivation for INNER awareness, for a deeper internal perspective and internal communication with the self, not just taught you “techniques” for some form of outer control alone.

Always, keep in mind, the inner struggle lost, can never be fulfilled by endless outer battles with others, or endless battles within the self where mind, body and spirit never merge as One.

If you choose to truly be completely successful and free, at some point, on whatever path you’re on, you will one day have to make that path, both internally and externally, uniquely and “honestly” your own and take FULL responsibility for your own choices and actions;

As Robert F. Kennedy said:

“Our future may lie beyond our vision, but it is not completely beyond our control… the work of our own hands, matched to reason and principle, that will determine our destiny. There is pride in that, even arrogance, but there is also experience and truth. In any event, it is the only way we can live.”

For myself, I believe in the unlimited potential of humanity and the world, and that Martial Arts, utilized with deep living principles, can be a way for our inner victories, in transforming our fears, insecurities and prejudices between each other, into a bridge of unity, more so, than merely utilizing Martial Arts as a way to deal with external conflicts alone.

Understandably, we may not be able to control the future, but WE CAN determine how bravely we face our own destiny, and WE CAN choose to believe, trust and learn from the essence of our own selves along the way, as we make the path we are on, our own.  Yes, there is pride in that statement, even arrogance, but (once again) it is the only way we can live in courage, strength, success and unending peace.

The Purpose Of My Life, Teaching & Work

Is To Be:

Strong enough, to face hardship

Brave enough, to endure defeat

Courageous enough, to live in wisdom

(no matter the external conflict)

&

Honest enough to learn from lessons of loss,

Without having to live a life of blame, anger

Or regret
